The need for new workers in the skilled trades is an ongoing challenge across the country. In February, Construction Ready, SkillsUSA Georgia, and the Technical College System of Georgia hosted the SkillsUSA – Georgia State Leadership and Skills Conference 2022 at the Georgia World Congress Center. The event gave more than 500 Georgia students an opportunity to showcase their technical skills in more than 70 skilled career competitions.
Contests included carpentry, electrical, woodworking, welding, masonry, sheet metal work, and more. Students were able to fine tune their workplace and technical skills and hear from industry leaders in leadership training seminars.
Fox5 Atlanta visited the competition and talked with Construction Ready President and CEO Scott Shelar and Roswell High School student Camden Mattison.
